Transcendent In The Mundane Way

I can understand the atheist.
Always here at this computer at this office.
Always here in this house at this home.
Always with the same kids.
Always with the same wife.

It would be so easy to abandon that extra layer
That extra layer of meaning.
That meaning that makes you feel significant
That meaning that makes Truth truth.
That meaning that makes doing right worth it.
That meaning that is beyond just a good feeling.

I can understand the atheist.
Wanting to have meaning without “meaning”
Wanting to have truth without “truth”
Wanting to have worth without “worth”
Wanting to have purpose without “purpose”

I sit here an explorer bound by choice
Wanting to see the beauty in the landscape but instead
I savor the meaning in this office
I savor the truth in this home
I savor the worth it in my kids
I savor the purpose in my wife

I transcend this mundane because there is a transcendent reality.
